1. Who we are

This policy explains how My Legal Assistant, Inc. (“we,” “us” and “our”) handles information collected through our website (the “Website”), our forms and our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. Our offices are at 450 S. Melrose Dr., Suite 125, Vista, CA 92081 and 620 N Redondo Dr, #B, Oceanside, CA 92057.

This policy covers the Website and our online forms and ads. Information that clients share with us in order to receive our services is covered by our written service agreement and is kept confidential.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you fill out a form on our Website or on Facebook or Instagram, or when you call, text or email us, you may give us your name, email address, phone number, preferred language, how you would like us to contact you, whether it is safe to leave a voicemail, and the message you write.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Website, we and our service providers may collect your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the website you came from, the ad you clicked and the time you spent on each page. This information is collected using cookies, pixels and similar technologies.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Answer your questions and set up your free first meeting.
  • Contact you the way you asked us to.
  • Provide and improve our services and the Website.
  • Understand how the Website is used.
  • Measure and improve our advertising, including ads on Facebook and Instagram.
  • Protect our ads and the Website from fraud and spam.
  • Follow the law and protect our rights.

4. Cookies, pixels and advertising

Cookies are small files that a website stores on your device. Pixels and web beacons are small pieces of code that record that a page was visited. We use these technologies to make the Website work, to understand how it is used and to measure our advertising.

Third parties may collect information from the Website. The Website uses tools from other companies. These companies, and others we work with, may collect or receive information about your visit through cookies, pixels, web beacons and similar technologies. Today those tools are:

  • Google Analytics, to measure how the Website is used.
  • Google reCAPTCHA, to protect our forms from spam.
  • The Meta Pixel, to measure and deliver our ads on Facebook and Instagram.
  • ClickCease, to detect fake clicks on our ads.
  • Elfsight, to show our Google reviews.
  • UserWay, an accessibility tool.

How the information is used. This information is used to measure results and to target and deliver ads, including ads shown to you on Facebook, Instagram and other websites. We do not send information about your legal matter, your documents or your case to advertising platforms. The events we measure are limited to things like visiting a page, clicking a button and sending a contact form.

How to turn it off. You can limit or stop this collection and use of your information for ad targeting:

  • Facebook and Instagram: change your ad preferences in your account settings, at facebook.com/settings, under Ad preferences.
  • Many advertising companies: use the choices at optout.aboutads.info.
  • Google Analytics: install the browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Your browser: block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, parts of the Website may not work as expected.

5. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal. The Website does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of sharing for advertising where the law requires it.

6. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only with:

  • Service providers that help us run the Website and our business, such as website hosting, email, form, analytics and fraud-prevention providers. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
  • Advertising platforms such as Meta and Google, through the pixels and tools described above, to measure and deliver our ads.
  • Government agencies, courts or other parties when the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.
  • A buyer or successor, if our business is sold or transferred.

Under some privacy laws, sharing information with advertising platforms for ad targeting can count as “sharing” or “selling.” You can opt out as described in section 4 and section 9.

7. Facebook and Instagram forms

When you send us a form on Facebook or Instagram, the platform collects what you enter and gives it to us. We use it only to answer you and to set up your free first meeting, as described in this policy. The platform’s own privacy policy also applies to what you enter in its forms.

8. How long we keep information

We keep the information you send us through the Website and our forms for 2 years or as long as we need it to answer you, to provide services and to meet legal obligations. After that, we delete it or remove what identifies you.

9. Your privacy choices and rights

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we have about you, to correct it or to delete it. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act may give you additional rights, including the right to know, delete and correct personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and the right not to be treated differently for using these rights.

To make a request, email info@mylegalassistants.com or call (760) 500-5355. To opt out of sharing for advertising, use the choices in section 4 or send us a request. We may ask you for information to confirm it is you. We will answer within the time the law requires.

10. How we protect information

We use reasonable measures to protect the information we collect, including secure hosting and limited access. No website or method of sending information is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children

The Website is not meant for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. If your safety is a concern

If you are visiting this Website because of domestic violence or another safety concern, your device may keep a record of the pages you visit. Consider using a device or network that the other person cannot access, or clearing your browsing history afterward. If you are in danger, call 911.

13. Links to other websites

The Website may link to other websites. This policy does not cover them. Please read their privacy policies.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
